Vinification Details

Sonoma County Cabernet gives our wine notes of ripe dark berries and brown spice, as well as outstanding lushness and mid-palate breadth. Lake County Cabernet grown on volcanic hillsides contributes intense structure, as well as flavours of juicy red fruit and spice to our wine. Napa County Cabernet contributes a sense of seamlessness, a textural characteristic we see as essential to great Cabernet. Our wine has been aged for 16 months on French oak, medium plus and heavy toast levels.

History

In 1964 Louis P. Martini, son of Napa pioneer Louis M. Martini, purchased 178 acres of land in the eastern hills of the Napa Valley. The Martini family developed this land into a vineyard which they named Ghost Pines as a tribute to the native grey pines which at dusk, appear to hover, solitary and ghostlike throughout the coastal valleys.

Each vineyard lot was fermented under a unique set of conditions designed to showcase the fruit's outstanding quality and blocks were kept separate until blending began following the fermentation period
