Perfectly good rice
A Tesco Customer
Perfectly good paella rice if you know what you are doing. I have to say I've never even looked at the instructions but reading the other comments they sound pretty poor. The only "paella" that took an hour to cook was a version I made using barley! I suggest you use/find a proven recipe and just ignore the packet info!
Perfect for paella
A Tesco Customer
Good Spanish short grain rice, perfect for paella or similar dishes. Ignore the cooking instructions on the packet, these have been copied from the risotto packet. Follow a real paella recipe, don't stir it and make it gloopy, let it stick to the bottom of the pan and enjoy the crunchy socarrat.
Have made some great paella with this.

DO NOT BOIL THIS RICE FOR 25 MINUTES
A Tesco Customer
I am spanish. DO NOT BOIL THIS RICE FOR 25 MINUTES as adviced. Boil it up to 15 minutes, stop the heat and let it settle for 4 minutes before serving.
I am a Spaniard and a cook. This rice is perfectly
A Tesco Customer
I am a Spaniard and a cook. This rice is perfectly adequate to make a paella with. You DO NOT boil the rice separatelly, you DO NOT the extraordinary things people mention in their comments here, to make a paella. You add the rice, after having fried the rest of the ingredients needed to make the dish, and fry it for 3 or 4 minutes, then you add the water and cook it for NO MORE THAN 20 MINUTES. It has always worked for me...
Not fit for purpose due to poor instructions
A Tesco Customer
Bought by husband to make a paella but the instructions were so rubbish - what do you do to prepare for 40 minutes? - I checked out here for help. Found other disappointed reviewers so decided not to waste 1 hr 50 minutes of my time plus all the other ingredients for a meal for friends to share and then find the rice still hard and meal inedible. Am taking back to store for a refund TESCO please alter the instructions on the packaging.
Not for a bbq paella
A Tesco Customer
Like others have said. Very hard even after a few hours of simmering. Would have been one star but was following a kamado joe bbq paella youtube video and not the packet instructions. Will not be using this again.
Good paella rice
A Tesco Customer
Really good quality paella rice. I boiled this for half an hour in chicken stock then added to the paella to simmer down for around 30 minutes and came out perfect. Don't listen to the cooking instructions just cook until soft about 1 hour for full cooking time.
Great product if you ignore cooking instructions
A Tesco Customer
Good product terrible cooking instructions, ignore them. Paella does not take over an hour and ten minutes to cook and the instructions are more akin to risotto cooking. I choose to ignore them and make paella in traditional way and it was perfect. I fried off the rice with onions first. Then added meat and veg and stock 2 and 3/4 cups to one cup of rice. Brought to slow boil. Stirred at 5 mins point and then simmered for about 25 more minutes agitating the rice occasionally. Rice was perfectly cooked. Whoever wrote the instructions on the packet needs to take a good hard look at themselves. That's not how you make paella.
Lovely taste but very long cooking time
A Tesco Customer
WOW this took a long time to cook, but it turned out lovely, if you're not in a hurry. The instructions on the side of the packet are next to useless, and may as well not be there. I bought this to make a chicken & seafood paella. To get the desired texture, I simmered on a low heat, in a large flat bottomed pan, for about 1hr, gradually adding 1.5 pints of chicken stock, until fully absorbed. Even after 1hr the rice was still like bullets. I then stirred in 1 x 400g can of chopped tomatoes, and transferred the mixture in to an oven roasting dish. I then mixed in the chopped chicken thighs, diced chorizo, chopped onion, red pepper, seafood and seasoning, which I'd fried in a separate pan while the rice was cooking, and topped up the dish with about 1/2 can of water. I then baked the whole dish at 200-220 for 30mins (stirring half way).
