Vinification Details

Grapes are hand picked, with selection of plots according to their level of maturity. They spend 3 to 4 weeks macerating before being pressed by a pneumatic press. The wine then sees traditionnal ageing and vinification methods, with partial de-stemming according to the conditions of the particular vintage in concrete vats. It then spends 8 months in concrete tanks in order to soften the tannins.

History

Founded in 1925, Cellier des Princes originated as a group of winegrowers agreeing to team up, in the name of fraternity and solidarity. These initial winegrowers proved to be some of the most important figures in the history of the region, with many of them involved in the creation of France's first AOC just 11 years later: Chateauneuf du Pape. The co-operative today encompasses 240 growers, who combine to produce and deliver almost 750ha of grapes every vintage.

Regional Information

This Vacqueyras is made from vineyards located in the Villages of Sarrians in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the local mountains named after their sharp-edged ridges and spikes that look like lace.
