Vinification Details
Machine and hand harvest, harvest took place during late march until mid April according to the ripeness of different blocks involved in this wine, grapes were transported to the cellar and destemmed and pressed using pneumatic presses, fermentation in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, fermentation took place between 15-17°C. No malolactic was carried out in order to retain the wine's fresh appeal.
History
The history of Viña Luis Felipe Edwards (LFE) dates back to 1976, when Luis Felipe Edwards Sr. purchased the Fundo San José de Puquillay estate, located in the Colchagua Valley. The estate sits nestled in a secluded horseshoe-shaped valley, separated from the majestic snow-capped Andes by the smaller San Fernando ridge. Viña Luis Felipe Edwards has since grown to be the largest 100% family-owned wine company in Chile, with 1850 hectares of estate vineyards and is exported to more than 90 countries.
Regional Information
The Casablanca Valley's cool Mediterranean climate is strongly influenced by the chilling Humboldt current, which comes up from Antarctica and runs all along Chile´s coast. Foggy mornings and cool breezes all year long make for a relatively delayed harvest, a natural spot for Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir.
