lovely wine cold and fresh out of the fridge, i've drunk tesco reisling for years but is so much worth the £2 more. not so sweet as the tesco reisling, a bit dryer. yummy.... ! ok to drink on its own or with most foods.
Anyone remember riesling?
Review from Tesco
A long long time ago (the 1980s), in a galaxy far far away (Leicester), you could buy quality Mosel / Saar / Ruwer named-vineyard riesling kabinetts for about this price on the high street. Anyone remember Victoria Wine? I miss those heady days! Anyway, one of my happiest wine-associated memories involved a seven year old Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg on a very hot afternoon - a bit like today - in a small Clarendon Park garden. The wineseller was closing down so everything had to go & that bottle cost me a fiver. I'm not sure he knew what he had; it was worth that for the beautiful label alone. Anyway, the wine was sublime - rapier sharp and smelling of coxes orange pippins and petrol. Don't expect that kind of definition from this Peter Mertes offering, but do expect a nice aperitif that - yes - actually smells like real German riesling, and has enough steel about it to whet the appetite. A faint echo of happy times. PS. I prefer this one icy!
Impossible to open bottle.
Review from Tesco
The 2020 version - had to return it as two people found it impossible to open after some minutes, even using boiling water. Previous years always proved excellent.
Satisfying with a slightly flinty edge.
Review from Tesco
Well, I decided to give this Riesling a try and was very pleasantly surprised with it's slightly flinty edge and almost imperceptible sparkle. Most definitely best enjoyed not too chilled, so that the gentle flavours of the Mosel can come out. TIP: I you serve it straight from the fridge, allow the poured glass to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes, or better still, take the bottle out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving, and then ENJOY. I will certainly be purchasing further bottles.
A Riesling as it should be
Review from Tesco
Take it from someone who grew up in the Riesling-growing part of Germany: this is a Riesling as it should be. Citric, acidic, fruity and mineral. If you like Sauvignon Blancs, you will probably like good a Riesling too. I'd not serve it too cold, because the flavours come out better at a slightly higher temperature. Just chilled enough to make it refreshing. Or if it is ice-cold, go for a very large serving, and watch how the flavour develops as it warms up a bit in the glass. That's the way to find the sweet spot.
Awesome

superb. would like to drink ocean of this wine.
Bitter and raw by comparison ...
Review from Tesco
I much preferred the other Finest Riesling that Tesco stocked until quite recently. This Mosel Steep Slopes Riesling which has suddenly been put in its place, is bitter and raw by comparison. I won't be giving it fridge space. The Finest Rheinhessen Riesling was by far superior.
Another excellent Tesco Finest!

I first drank this wine in early April and found it to be a pleasent ddrink to have with a meal also I drank it just as a drink which was as good. I think I will buy it again
Good tasting wine
Review from Tesco
If you like a medium White Wine this is a good bet although I thought a tad dryer than the Riesling Qualitatswein. I would buy again.
