Great flavour that stays firm
A Tesco Customer
Much better than they used to be. They stayed firm but not hard and they have a great flavour. I'm very impressed with these trifle sponges and will use them again.
Yummy trifle
A Tesco Customer
Made a good old fashioned trifle for the family - sandwiched the sponges with black Cherry jam - fresh Tesco raspberries and blueberries. Topped with orange jelly, Ambrosia custard and lashings of whipped double cream. Finally sprinkled with grated chocolate. Delicious - it soon disappeared !!
It's time to bring the plain trifle sponges back
A Tesco Customer
I only use plain trifle sponges. These have driven me to shop elsewhere. One can always add jam if wanted but can't scrape it off without leaving a taste. Tesco had the plain ones for many years and I was happy with those.
Very Disappointing
A Tesco Customer
You state three times on the outside of the packet "Sweet and Moist" I have been making trifles weekly for many years, and gradually these sponge cakes have become smaller and thinner and very, very dry. Most disappointing, nothing like Lyons Trifle Sponges I knew in my childhood. They used to be three times the height and as soft as butter. I shop mainly with Tesco but I am totally disillusioned with this product, I couldn't cut through some this morning to make my trifle, they went straight into the rubbish bin.
Spoiled as usual.
A Tesco Customer
Really spoiled these with cutting down on quality. I still like to split them open and spread strawberry jam in the middle but truthfully they're becoming so thin you can hardly cut them. Seriously thinking of just making a homemade sponge instead.
ruin homemade trifle
A Tesco Customer
These are nothing like what traditional trifle sponges should be like -- they completely spoil homemade trifle with their consistency and taste. The older ones were much nicer so why change them Tesco other than for a bigger profit margin?
ideal for alternative cheesecake base
A Tesco Customer
really nice used at base of cheesecake each one cut in half so not as thick and brush with a little water before pouring cheesecake mixture over . had lots of compliments
Delicious!
A Tesco Customer
Hmmm.. I was supposed to be making a trifle with these, but made the mistake of just thinking I'd try one as a snack. Before I knew it, the pack was gone and no trifle... oh well, better try again next week! :D
Far too sweet and not at all nice.
A Tesco Customer
These trifle sponges are far sweeter than the ones I used to buy a couple of years ago. That is why I stopped buying them. Far too much sugar in one sponge. It makes the trifle far to sweet so you cannot taste the nice ingredients like the fruit, jelly and cream. Please change the recipe back to what it used to be.
