Vinification Details

Boland recognises the importance of the viticulturist and winemaker and the crucial decisions they have to make. They have incredibly high standards, from vineyard maintenance to blending and bottling.

History

Situated in the picturesque Paarl Valley, Boland Cellars has been nominated as one of South Africa's top export companies, one of the top 100 wine producers in the world by the World Association of Wine & Spirits writers as well as being one of the top producers in Paarl. Focussing very strongly on the merits of what they call “regionality”, the team have been working for more than six decades in the Paarl region, time which has allowed their viticulturists to isolate five different climatic zones.

Regional Information

The Paarl region is marked by a Mediterranean climate of warm dry summers and mild but wet winters, the cooling influence of the nearby ocean and cool mountain slopes with slower ripening grapes. By identifying five distinct micro climates within the region, the viticultural team have been able to cherry-pick varietals best suited to specific vineyard sites.
