The Clubcard Credit Card is not currently available to new customers and existing customer accounts will, subject to regulatory approval, be transferred to Avantcard. All affected customers will be notified to explain what this means for their account and we have provided further information in FAQ section below.
Existing customers can continue to use their card as normal.
Tesco Bank has made the decision to stop offering credit cards in the Republic of Ireland. So, your Tesco Bank credit card account is being switched over to Avantcard (Avantcard Designated Activity Company).
The decision was made following a review of Tesco Bank’s operations in the Republic of Ireland with Avantcard being selected based on their online banking services and their reputation for good customer service.
The transfer is subject to approval of the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC). We will be in touch with you again with more information just as soon as we are able to confirm approval by the CCPC.
We want to keep you informed and in accordance with the Consumer Protection Code 2012, we’re letting you know of our intention to stop providing credit cards in the Republic of Ireland.
Yes. You can continue to use your card until a new card is issued to you by Avantcard. Both Tesco Bank and Avantcard will keep you fully up-to-date at every stage of the transfer process so you will know exactly what to expect in terms of any changes to your account.
Until you receive your new Avantcard credit card, there will be no change to your Tesco Bank credit card terms and conditions. Your card will remain the same, with no changes to your interest rate, fees or your ability to collect ClubCard points when you use your credit card in Tesco or elsewhere.
No changes will be made to what you have earned or how you can continue to collect Clubcard points.
Your Avant Credit card will provide you with the same earn rate as you have today, which is 1 point for every €2 Tesco Spend and 1 point for every €8 spend elsewhere. At transfer, we will issue you with a new ClubCard so you can still collect points and enjoy the benefits of ClubCard.
As part of the transfer process, we'll be sharing some of your personal and financial details with Avantcard. In accordance with data protection law, this information will be shared confidentially and will only be used in ways you originally agreed to when you signed up for your Tesco Bank credit card.
