Our Code of Ethics

Introduction

The success of Tesco Ireland has been built on a foundation of strong relationships – with our customers, staff, business partners and the communities we serve. As our business evolves and grows, we need to expand and deepen those strong relationships. For this to happen those relationships must continue to be underpinned by ethical business practices.

In order to ensure that our high standards of business ethics are understood and met consistently, we have introduced this Code of Ethics for all our staff. This Code sets the standards for business behaviour in Tesco Ireland. It applies to all of our staff in any situation where they are representing or are directly associated with Tesco.

The Code is supplemented by other Tesco Ireland policies in certain areas. Our Policies for our People, our Gifts, Hospitality and Sponsorship Policy and our Conflicts of Interest Policy contain specific rules on these two important areas of ethical business behaviour. In addition, our Protector Line provides our staff with a channel for communicating concerns about any aspect of our activities, including any concerns about meeting this Code.

It is not possible for a Code of Ethics to cover every situation that arises in our work. This Code does not try to do so. Instead, it sets out the principles of business ethics to be applied by every member of the Tesco Team. It also provides guidance on how to raise a query on compliance with the Code where the need arises.

This Code of Ethics reinforces our commitment to doing business in a way that makes a positive contribution to all our stakeholders. I look forward to everyone in Tesco Ireland applying the Code in every aspect of our activities.
