Over the last year we have...



  • Released a report entitled ‘The Impact of Tesco on the Irish Economy’ which showed that Tesco is worth €2.5 billion annually to the Irish economy.

  • Announced our Strategy on the Environment and Carbon Reduction which is our commitment to minimising our carbon footprint and to address crucial environmental concerns.

  • Introduced Guideline Daily Amount Front of Pack labelling on all our Tesco own brand fresh and packaged food products.

  • Entered the mobile market with the launch of Tesco Mobile in conjunction with O2 Ireland.

  • Raised over €1.4 million euro for our 2007 staff Charity of the Year, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital. For 2008 our staff Charity of the Year is the Make a Wish Foundation of Ireland.

  • Opened new stores in Wexford, Celbridge, Abbeyfeale, Limerick Coonagh, Claremorris, Westport, Castlepollard and Camden Street, creating hundreds of new jobs.

  • Opened three new Petrol Filling Stations in Clonmel, Claremorris and Arklow.

  • Extended our Grocery Home Shopping service to cover 71% of the population through 24 stores.

  • Were named the Best Supermarket Wine Outlet 2007 by the Sunday Business Post.
