About this Deal

Avondale House and Forest Park, the birthplace and home of Charles Stewart Parnell (1846-1891) one of the greatest political leaders of Irish history. This beautiful Georgian House with original plasterwork and fine original furniture was built in 1777, and is set in a magnificent forest park of over 500 acres on the banks of the Avonmore River. Avondale is synonymous with the birth of Irish Forestry. In 1904 the first silvicultural experimental plots were laid down along the lines of a continental forest garden. The Centenary walk was formed to celebrate this in 2004.

Other facilities include "The Kitchen Café", picnic areas, large car/coach park, children’s play area, signposted walks. Dogs welcome – on leads. Well worth a visit.
