Great Irish Food

Tesco spends €2.5 billion on Irish food, drink and services every year - the equivalent of over €400 for every citizen in the country.

Each year Tesco Group buys €655 million worth of Irish food and drink products. That’s more Irish food and drink than is purchased by the USA, France or Germany.

All of our fresh beef and lamb comes from Irish farms and all the beef from our fresh counters is Certified Irish Angus Beef. Over 50,000 Irish Angus cattle have been procured for Tesco over the past 5 years.

Tesco Ireland's customers will drink about 65 million litres of fresh Irish milk this year – enough to fill 26 Olympic sized swimming pools. All fresh milk sold in Tesco stores comes from Irish farms.

This year we will sell over 70 million Irish tomatoes, all from farms in North County Dublin and Wexford.

Through our work with Country Crest we now grow over 3,500 tonnes of onions (20 million onions!) in North County Dublin that would have previously been imported from the UK, Holland and New Zealand.

We are the biggest seller of Irish potatoes. Each year Tesco buys and sells over 30,000 tonnes of Irish potatoes in its stores.
